Some individuals experience visual stress, which can be linked to dyslexia and Scotopic Sensitivity Syndrome. This can make reading or writing on bright white backgrounds uncomfortable or difficult. Symptoms may include words appearing to move or blur, headaches or eye strain while reading, sensitivity to bright light, and difficulty focusing on text. Many people find that using softer, coloured backgrounds — such as pastel yellow or cream — can significantly improve comfort and clarity.

We were approached to support a young referee who was experiencing these challenges on the pitch. After taking the time to understand their needs, we worked closely with them to design and develop the sheets available today.
